Our Programs
Our Sons Rise Advocacy
Our Sons Rise is dedicated to eliminating the racial disparity that puts our Black sons at a disadvantage in the areas of education and the criminal justice system. We advocate against systemic racism and work diligently to change negative perceptions while increasing awareness and understanding of the plight of Black boys and men in America.
Family and Community Services
We provide school supplies, food items, toys, and social interaction throughout the year to families who are less fortunate in the Washington Metropolitan area. We also participate in a countywide "Our Streets, Our Future" gun violence awareness and prevention initiative to assist in driving down violence in our communities.
Workforce Development and
Job Readiness
Our Sons Rise workforce development and job readiness focus on the Beauty and Barbering Industry. Through a rigorous apprenticeship program, participants are taught the required skills of the trade, leadership, financial management, and entrepreneurship.
We have partnered with local barbers and braiding businesses to offer barber and braiding positions to returning citizens in the Washington DC and Prince George's County areas.
Our Sons Rise Storytime
Our Sons Rise Storytime is for kindergarten-aged children. This program lays a firm foundation and promotes literacy early in a child's life. We want to encourage reading at an early age to help children develop reading, speaking, and listening skills.
